How fast is a Tirio quote? Measured latency on BNB Chain

Median and 90th-percentile response times of Tirio's /price and /quote across 185 BNB Chain pairs, measured on production from one client on 2026-10-01.

Quote latency is the gap between typing an amount and seeing a price. We measured ours on production on 2026-10-01 and are publishing the numbers as they came out.

Method

  • Where: the production API at https://api.tirio.io, called from a Mac over the public internet. Every figure includes the network round trip.
  • What: 185 BNB Chain token pairs, with the same requests sent to every service in the same run.
  • Which endpoints: Tirio's /price (the indicative price the app shows while you type: routed, not simulated, no transaction) and /quote (the quote you sign: routed, simulated as the complete transaction at the latest block and returned with the calldata). For reference, the price endpoints of two other aggregators were called at the same time. Both return a route and a price without a transaction.
  • Recent and first requests: Tirio keeps the pools of recently asked pairs in a view refreshed every 500 ms. A pair asked for the first time has to be discovered and read from the chain, so we report it separately.

This is one day from one location. Other places, times and pairs will give other numbers.

Results

RequestMedian (p50)90th percentile (p90)
Tirio /price, pair asked recently105 ms176 ms
Tirio /price, pair asked for the first time220 ms3.4 s
Tirio /quote (simulated, with calldata)307 ms3.1 s
Two other aggregators' price endpoints, same run418 ms and 250 msnot compared

What this says:

  • For pairs that are already in use, the indicative price usually comes back in about a tenth of a second.
  • A /quote does more work than the other endpoints in the table: it simulates the whole swap on chain and builds the transaction. It is not a like-for-like comparison with price endpoints that return no transaction.

Price

On the same pairs, for tokens without a transfer tax, Tirio's output was level with both other aggregators at the median.

What we are working on

  • Faster first requests for pairs nobody has asked for recently.
  • Routes for more long-tail pairs.

Try it yourself

The API is public at https://api.tirio.io, with no key. Amounts are raw integer units (1 BNB is 1000000000000000000 wei) and the native coin is the zero address. This asks for the indicative price of 1 BNB in USDT:

curl -w "\n%{time_total}s\n" "https://api.tirio.io/bsc/price?tokenIn=0x0000000000000000000000000000000000000000&tokenOut=0x55d398326f99059fF775485246999027B3197955&amountIn=1000000000000000000"

The full parameter list, including /quote with its transaction, is in the API docs.
