Tirio's fees, plainly: what you pay on a swap, an order and the API
3 bps on tirio.io, no Tirio fee on the API, partner fees, positive slippage kept up to 1 % and 10 bps on orders. Every fee, with worked numbers.
Fees are where trading products like to be vague. We would rather lay ours out in one place, with numbers, so you can check every one of them against the quote and the chain.
There are four things that can cost you something on Tirio: the Tirio fee on the site, partner fees, the positive slippage policy and the order fee. Then there are the costs that exist on any DEX: pool fees and gas.
1. The Tirio fee: 3 bps on tirio.io
Every swap made on tirio.io pays a 3 bps (0.03 %) Tirio fee, taken from the token you pay.
On a 1 BNB sale, 0.0003 BNB goes to the fee and the remaining 0.9997 BNB is routed. The output you see in the app is already computed on the 0.9997 BNB, so there is nothing to subtract afterwards. The quote's details show the fee as its own line, in basis points and in units of the token.
Technically, the app charges this fee as a partner fee on Tirio's Router contract, paid to the Tirio treasury inside the swap transaction. The Router's own protocol fee is 0. Every quote reports that protocol fee in a feeBps field, read from the contract, so nobody has to take our word for it.
2. The API: no Tirio fee
Quotes you request from Tirio's public API carry no Tirio fee. Integrators can add a partner fee of their own (next section). If you build on the API and add nothing, your users pay no Tirio fee on swaps.
3. Partner fees
A partner fee is how an integrator, a wallet or anyone sharing a link earns from swaps they bring.
- Up to 1000 bps (10 %), set per request with
partnerandpartnerFeeBpson the API, or with a link of the form/swap?partner=…&partnerFeeBps=…in the app. - Paid in the same transaction, straight to the partner's address.
- The Router keeps 10 % of each partner fee. The partner receives the other 90 %.
- On tirio.io, a partner fee replaces the 3 bps Tirio fee. A swap from a partner link pays the partner's fee and no Tirio fee, and the card shows a Partner fee line with the partner's address.
An example: a partner link with a 20 bps fee on a 1 BNB swap takes 0.002 BNB from the input. The partner receives 0.0018 BNB and the Router keeps 0.0002 BNB. The Tirio fee line reads 0.
4. Positive slippage: kept up to 1 % of the quote
This is the one most interfaces explain least, so here it is in full.
Prices move between the quote and the block your swap lands in. If they move against you, you receive less, down to your minimum received. If they move in your favour, the route pays more than the quote. On Tirio, for a sale of an exact amount whose output token has no transfer tax, the output passes through the Router, which compares it with the quoted output:
- Anything above the quote is kept by the Router, up to 1 % of the quoted output.
- Anything beyond that cap goes to you.
- With a partner, 20 % of what the Router keeps goes to the partner.
With numbers, for a quote of 770.00 USDT:
| The swap delivers | Kept | You receive |
|---|---|---|
| 765.00 | 0 | 765.00 |
| 770.00 | 0 | 770.00 |
| 772.00 | 2.00 | 770.00 |
| 780.00 | 7.70 | 772.30 |
The cap is 1 % of 770.00, which is 7.70. In practice, on these swaps the quote is close to the most you should plan on receiving. Buy mode (exact-out), tokens with a transfer tax and order fills are not affected. The same rule applies to swaps built from the API, so integrators see the same behaviour.
5. Orders: 10 bps of each fill
Limit, stop and DCA orders cost 10 bps (0.10 %) of what each fill receives, or 3 bps between stablecoins (USDT, USDC, USD1 and FDUSD on BNB Chain).
- Only when an order fills. Placing, cancelling and expiring cost nothing but your own gas, and the gas of every fill is paid for you.
- Your price is net of the fee. If you sell 1 BNB with a minimum of 800 USDT, the route must deliver at least 800 ÷ 0.999 = 800.80 USDT, so that 800 reaches you after the fee.
- Improvement above your price is yours when the keeper fills, and the positive-slippage cap of swaps does not apply to fills. Orders listed on the book fill at exactly your price.
- No Tirio swap fee on top. The 3 bps Tirio fee applies to swaps only.
6. Costs that are not Tirio's
- Pool fees. Every pool on a route charges its own fee, already deducted from the output you are quoted. You would pay the same fees trading on those DEXes directly.
- Gas. Paid in BNB to the network. At the 0.05 gwei gas price common on BNB Chain today, a typical swap costs around a cent.
The limits written into the contract
Some numbers above can only move within limits the Router enforces on chain. Its protocol fee is 0 today and can never exceed 100 bps. A partner fee can never exceed 1000 bps. The Router's share of a partner fee can never exceed 20 %. And the positive slippage it keeps can never exceed 1 % of the quoted output.
How to check any of this yourself
- In the app, the review step shows the Tirio fee or partner fee in basis points and in tokens.
- In the API, every quote has a
feesblock naming the token each fee is taken from, the amounts, the partner and the surplus cap (surplusCapBps: 100). - On chain, every swap emits a
Swapevent from the Router with the protocol take, the partner take and the surplus kept.
The full fee rules are in our overview, and the contract-level details on the contracts page.
